MAKE THE TEXT LARGER
Back in 1988 I had no problem viewing text on web pages. That is not always the case now.
It’s really easy to enlarge the text on any web page. On your keyboard, press and hold down the Ctrl key and tap the plus (+) key. To make the text smaller just press and hold the Ctrl key and tap the minus (-) key.
USE YOUR KEYBOARD TO SCROLL DOWN A WEB PAGE
Tap the Space bar to scroll down a web page. To scroll back up, hold down the Shift key and then tap the Space bar.
LESS TYPING, SAME RESULT
I am always looking for ways to get things done with as little work as possible. This tip is an oldie, but goodie. Let’s say you want to go to CNN’s website. Most people would type in www.cnn.com. Well, you can save a few key strokes by doing the following:
- Start your web browser
- Click in the address field.
- Type in cnn (or any website that you know ends in .com)
- Press and hold down the CTRL key and then tap the ENTER key on your keyboard, release both keys. The www and .com portion of the web address is automatically added for you.
- Your browser should now take you to www.cnn.com.
This command only works for addresses that end in .com. You will have to manually type in the full address of any site you are trying to visit that ends in .edu, .gov, .co.uk, .net, .ca.
Comments and questions are highly encouraged.
